The much-anticipated trailer for Nitesh Tiwari's cinematic interpretation of the Ramayana has been unveiled. Spanning just over four minutes, the trailer immerses viewers in the serene realm of Ram in Ayodhya, which is soon disturbed by the formidable Lankan monarch, Raavan.


Star-Studded Cast

The film features a remarkable ensemble cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Other notable actors include Yash portraying Raavan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Arun Govil as Dashrath, alongside Lara Dutta, Sheeba Chadha, Indira Krishnan, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, and Kunal Kapoor.


Plot Overview

The trailer hints at the impending confrontation between Ram and Raavan. Driven by vengeance after Ram and Lakshman attack his sister Surpanakha, Raavan abducts Sita. With the support of Hanuman's forces, Ram and Lakshman embark on a mission to rescue her from Lanka.


Before confronting Raavan, Ram faces familial challenges, particularly from Kaikeyi, leading him to relinquish his claim to the throne and venture into the forest with Sita and Lakshman.


Production Details

The film carries the tagline 'Our Truth. Our History.' Nitesh Tiwari and Sridhar Raghavan have penned the screenplay, while the music is composed by AR Rahman, with the background score crafted by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, marking his debut in Indian cinema. Cinematography is handled by Pankaj Kumar and Mahesh Limaye.


Release Plans

This ambitious project is being produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, with Yash's Monster Mind Creations also on board. The film is set to be distributed across India by Dharma Productions, with the first part of Ramayana scheduled for a Diwali release this year, while the sequel is slated for 2027.


Trailer Launch Event

The trailer was officially launched on June 20 in Delhi, hosted by poet Kumar Vishwas, who elaborated on the epic's importance. The event featured a performance by sitar artist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, with Vishwas also contributing lyrics for the film's songs. Reports indicate that Ranbir Kapoor expressed his enthusiasm by chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' upon taking the stage, alongside various religious figures, including Anandmurti Gurumaa.
