कोर्ट का आदेश और मामला

A Surat city court has issued a bailable warrant for filmmaker Anurag Kashyap after he failed to attend a scheduled court hearing. This legal action arises from allegations concerning derogatory comments he allegedly made on social media aimed at the Brahmin community back in April 2025.

On Monday, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate JV Chauhan issued the warrant, with the next hearing set for December 24. This decision came after Kashyap's repeated absences, despite previous summonses, including a public notice in a newspaper.

कानूनी प्रक्रिया और पृष्ठभूमि

The legal proceedings commenced in May when the court mandated the filing of a case against Kashyap under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges involve promoting discord among various groups, intentional insults aimed at provoking a breach of peace, and spreading false rumors. These actions were initiated following a complaint from lawyer Kamlesh Raval, who is associated with organizations like Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

As per the petitioner, the controversy began with a post on social media platform X, where Kashyap allegedly made offensive remarks about the Brahmin community. This post was reportedly a reaction to objections from the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Samaj and Vipra Sena regarding the trailer of his film Phule. The petitioner contended that Kashyap's comments were meant to insult the community and could incite hostility among different social groups.

प्रतिक्रिया और वर्तमान स्थिति

After facing backlash in April 2025, Kashyap publicly apologized on Instagram. In his statement, he admitted to crossing a line by using inappropriate language in response to a social media user out of anger. He expressed remorse to his family, friends, and the Brahmin community for his choice of words.

Despite his apology, the legal proceedings have continued. Complainant Kamlesh Raval mentioned that the court had tried various methods to ensure Kashyap's presence, including issuing a public summons, before resorting to the bailable warrant. A bailable warrant allows the accused to secure their release by paying the bail amount set by the court. Currently, the case is still pending, with the next hearing scheduled for late December.
